I haven't had internet until Wednesday, and our schedule had been so busy that I haven't had time to write a post! I still don't have much time, (i started writing up a lab report already!) so I'm just going to list things that I've noticed about Germany so far: - there isn't WiFi anywhere (hence the no internet connection until now) - there are pharmacies on almost every street (called Apotheke) - dogs generally are not kept on leashes - their windows don't have screens - there are small kitchens either in classrooms for students to use (fridge, coffee machine, utensils..) - there are bikes everywhere, people young and old use them for everything, food shopping, going to work - cars are small, and there are a lot of old VWs - a lot of people smoke cigarettes - people (usually men) wear socks with sandals - people are generally taller than people in the US - scientists speak english - almost every apartment has a small balcony - most people live in apartments and have small backyards which they call gardens - it is customary to stay at restaurants for a long time, even if you are finished with your food and drinks
I'm packing for an outing to the swiss alps tomorrow, so I'll write more next week!
